About Frog Swap

Guide two groups of frogs past each other along a short row of lily pads. Slide into a neighbouring gap or hop over one frog, then match the marked destination row. Both groups can move in either direction.

Explore 123 fixed arrangements on 3–7 pads. Try a short route, undo a detour and return to improve your move count. Your first-solve time and fewest moves are separate records.

How to play

Goal
Move the blue frogs to the marked left pads and the amber frogs to the marked right pads.
How it ends
Matching every marked pad completes the puzzle; you cannot lose and may undo moves.
Record
Your first-solve time and fewest moves are kept separately for each board.
  1. Choose a pond. Opening its arrangement starts the first clock. The small marked row above the frogs shows the complete target, including empty pads.
  2. Tap a frog, then a highlighted empty pad. A slide moves one pad left or right into emptiness.
  3. A hop moves two pads left or right over exactly one frog of either colour. The landing pad must be empty. Frogs stay on the pond; hopping never removes one.
  4. Match the entire target row to finish. Blue circles belong on the left, amber diamonds on the right, with empty pads between them. There is no time limit or losing position.
  5. Undo returns to the preceding arrangement, but does not refund spent moves. Restart restores the starting row while retaining spent moves and the first clock.
  6. The first completed time is kept. Replay can improve your fewest moves; its time is practice. The displayed minimum is a route-length target, not a hint.

Tips

  • Make room before hopping Look at the empty pads as well as the frogs. A useful gap lets one group pass the other.
  • Use both directions A backwards slide can create the gap needed for a forward hop. Both colours may move left or right.

Good to know

Progress saves in this browser when storage is available. The first clock continues through menus, Undo, Restart and chooser visits. Reload restores your route and Undo history, but its time becomes practice; eligible moves may still rank. A pond open in another tab may be local-only. Settings control music, effects and reduced motion. No account is needed.

Questions

Can I hop over an empty pad?

No. A hop crosses exactly one frog and lands on an empty pad.

Does hopping capture the other frog?

No. Every frog remains on the pond. You can hop over either colour.

Does Undo lower my move count?

No. It restores an earlier arrangement while keeping the moves you have already spent. Restart also keeps that cost.

Are these endless puzzles?

No. There are 123 fixed arrangements. You can replay them to improve your routes.
