About Block Fit

A warding tablet has broken into shards. Fit every shard back onto the grid — no gaps, no overlaps — and the ward holds. Shards never turn, so the puzzle is where each one goes, not which way round it sits.

Forty-eight tablets across four sizes: Slate 4×4, Bronze 5×5, Iron 6×6 and Obsidian 7×7, twelve each. Within a size the shards grow in number and the packing grows in stubbornness, so the first tablet of a tier teaches the last one. A new Daily Ward is cut every day, the same one for everybody.

Every board is proved before it ships: an exact-cover solver counts the ways its shards tile the grid, and a cut is only kept when the answer is one. There is no lucky arrangement that also happens to work, and no board that cannot be finished.

The clock counts up, never down, and each board keeps a public best time to beat — no names, no accounts, just the number. Nothing to lose, nothing to run out of.

How to play

  1. Drag a shard onto the tablet; the outline shows the slot it will drop into.
  2. Or tap a shard to take it in hand, then tap the tablet to set it down. Tap a placed shard to take it back.
  3. Fill every square with no overlaps. Shards never turn, and each tablet fits exactly one way.
