How to play

Goal
Restore the shrine's lantern and open its portal by finding clues and solving its mechanisms.
How it ends
A room is complete when the restored portal is opened; wrong attempts can be corrected and you cannot lose.
Record
Your first unaided completion sets your time; fewest mechanism actions can improve on later visits.
Worked visual example for Lantern Rooms
Worked example. See the rule happen, then follow the numbered rules below.
  1. Start by collecting the marked Dawn part beside the steps. Inspect the first apparatus, select the part in inventory, and fit it into the Dawn socket. Empty sockets name their required parts; Find returns to the part’s room or source chest.
  2. Read the apparatus plaque and choose a component. Turn wheels or gears, press linked lamps, slide a peg along its track, turn mirrors to route the beam, measure water, ring the marked phrase, or place numbered weights. A correct target opens the chest.
  3. Take each revealed part and fit it into its matching socket. Later rooms combine several dependencies. After every chest is emptied, return to the shrine and open the lit portal. The worked picture shows taking, selecting and fitting a part.
  4. Each mechanism operation costs one action. Looking, collecting and fitting are free. Undo and Restart recover the position but preserve spent actions and the running clock. Your first completion fixes time; practice can improve actions. A first completion resumed after a page reload keeps local time.

About Lantern Rooms

Forty-eight miniature shrines wait for their lanterns. Rotate the real 3D view, inspect an apparatus, read its marked plaque, and collect the part released by its chest. Fit each part into a socket with the same emblem to activate the next device.

Symbol wheels, coupled gears, linked lamps, branched peg tracks, prism mirrors, measured cisterns, bell phrases and weighing pans combine into chains and branching rooms. Every room has a different mechanism/dependency composition, and every apparatus has an independently verified reachable target.

All eight chapters are open. Work at your own pace: wrong attempts can be corrected and nothing indispensable is lost. First-completion time and fewest mechanism actions have separate named records.
