How to play
- Goal
- Hold the most ley stones, and the longest ley lines, when the runes run out.
- How it ends
- After eight rounds the highest score wins; a tie goes to more rune power on the stones, then is shared.
- Record
- Your unfinished duel and most recent result are saved on this browser.
- Each round, everyone picks one of three runes in secret. Reveal together; the strongest rune casts first. Equal runes go to the wizard with fewer points, then to the Moon holder and onward to their left.
- On your cast, walk up to two stones round the ring (any stone from the Wellspring or with a Stride) and set your rune: on an empty stone, over your own weaker rune, or over a weaker rival rune that is not guarded. Otherwise the rune is wasted and your wizard still walks.
- A rune is guarded while its wizard stands on it, its owner’s Ward is beside it, or it is a Stride; only a Spark replaces a guarded rune. A Thorn may also break a weaker unguarded rival rune next to it. After eight rounds, score one point per stone and two per ley line of three or more.

About Rune Duel
A quick wizards’ duel adapted from our printed board game. Twelve ley stones ring a glowing Wellspring; every round each wizard picks one of three runes in secret, everyone reveals together, and the strongest rune is cast first.
Walk your wizard round the circle, set runes on empty stones, take weaker unguarded rival stones and build ley lines. Every wizard holds the same ten runes, the Moon settles ties and there is no first player. Play with friends on one screen, with the board covered while each picks, or against Apprentice, Adept and Archmage.
