About Hebi
Place snakes numbered 1–5 on a compact grid. Black arrows show the first numbered segment they can see, while each snake’s head must look away from other snakes.
Explore 36 original charts in three open collections: First snakes, Two snakes and Watch the heads. Every chart has one answer. Some white squares remain empty.
How to play
- Goal
- Place numbered snakes to satisfy every black arrow.
- How it ends
- Every snake has 1–5. Different snakes share no edge; heads cannot see another snake.
- Record
- First unaided solve · fastest time.
- Choose 1–5 and tap a white square. Each snake uses one of each number, with consecutive numbers touching horizontally or vertically.
- Different snakes cannot overlap or share an edge. Diagonal contact is allowed, and a snake may touch itself.
- Head 1 looks straight away from its neighbouring 2. No part of another snake may lie in that direction before a black square or the grid edge.
- A black arrow reads the first numbered segment in its direction, skipping empty white squares. Zero means it sees none. Black squares stop its view.
- Complete every snake and satisfy every arrow. The chart does not prescribe how many snakes to place, and you do not fill every white square.
- Empty adds optional reminders; Erase removes a mark. Drag to paint with the selected tool. A whole stroke is one Undo.

Tips
- Begin with zero Every white square in a zero arrow’s view is empty, until a black square or the edge.
- Read the first segment An arrow can look across several empty squares. Its number is not a distance.
- Check the head Once 1 and 2 are placed, follow the head’s sightline away from 2. A black square can shield another snake.
Good to know
Progress saves in this browser. The first clock starts when you open a chart and continues through menus and Restart. Reloaded attempts and changed clocks stay local. Practice keeps your original finish. Music and Effects have separate switches.

Questions
Must every white square contain a number?
No. Some squares stay empty, and Empty notes are optional.
How many snakes must I place?
The clues determine the number. There is no general two-snake rule.
May a snake touch itself?
Yes. Different snakes cannot share an edge; diagonal contact is allowed.
Does an arrow point to the adjacent square?
It reads the first numbered segment anywhere along its view, skipping empty squares and stopping at a black square or the edge.
