About Drop Quotes
Rebuild a short inscription from letters gathered above each column. Spaces and punctuation stay in place; the letters can move up or down within their own column.
Choose freely from 41 original inscriptions about hearths, weather, journeys, gardens, craft and moons. The included wordbook defines the accepted words, so each puzzle has one filling under the disclosed rules.
How to play
- Goal
- Rebuild the inscription using the letters in each column and words from the wordbook.
- How it ends
- It ends when every letter is placed and the inscription follows those rules; mistakes can always be changed.
- Record
- Your first unassisted solve time is kept for each inscription; later solves are practice.
- Choose a shelf and an inscription. Each column has its own supply of letters; use each letter exactly once. Spaces and punctuation are fixed.
- Select an empty square, then choose a letter from that column. Replace or erase letters freely. A word may continue across a row edge; only a printed space ends it.
- Every completed word must appear in Wordbook. Open it to search the disclosed list without stopping the clock. Undo, Redo and Restart let you revise your work.
- Fill the whole inscription to finish. If a full board does not finish, check its words in Wordbook. Next opens the following inscription.

Good to know
Progress stays in this browser. Menus, Wordbook and Restart keep the original clock. Reload preserves letters and clock but makes an unfinished inscription local practice; returning to Inscriptions without reloading preserves the first-solve chance. Later solves are practice.
