About Hearts
The classic trick-taking game at an Orenvalt warden's table: duck the hearts, dodge the queen of spades, and hand your three worst cards to somebody else before the hand begins. Take all twenty-six in one hand and you shoot the moon — everybody else takes them instead.
Every Hearts game on the internet is accused of cheating, and the accusation is often right, so this one is built to be checked. The three opponents are handed their own thirteen cards and the cards already played, and nothing else — not your hand, and not each other's. The deal is fixed by its number before you pass, so it cannot answer what you passed.
When a hand ends you can open the table: all four hands face up, trick by trick, each opponent's card carrying the reason that seat recorded at the moment it chose it.
How to play
- Pass three cards — left, then right, then across, then none — and then follow suit if you can.
- The two of clubs leads the first trick, and no points may be played on it.
- Hearts cannot be LED until one has been discarded. The queen of spades does not break them.
- Each heart costs 1 and the queen of spades costs 13. When somebody reaches 100 the lowest score wins.
- The Deal of the Day is four hands from one deal — the same cards and the same opponents for everyone that day, so the ten best scores are ten ways of playing it rather than ten lucky deals.

Three opponent strengths — Steady, Careful and Merciless — measured against each other rather than merely named. The Deal of the Day keeps the ten lowest scores, each with the run that earned it, so any of them can be watched. Progress and settings are saved in this browser.
