How to play
- Goal
- Place exactly one rabbit and one tree in every row and column so each lantern's number equals the rabbits it can see along its row and column.
- How it ends
- A grove is complete when every row, column and lantern sightline obeys the rules; there is no loss.
- Record
- Your first solve time is kept per grove, and the fastest verified first solve appears with its holder.
- Place exactly one rabbit and one tree in each row and column. A numbered lantern sees the rabbit in its row and the rabbit in its column unless a tree stands strictly between them. The clue is the number seen, from 0 to 2. Lantern cells cannot hold a piece. In the worked picture, adding a tree changes an exposed rabbit from visible to hidden.
- Choose Rabbit or Tree, then tap an empty grass cell. Repeated taps cycle through the chosen mark, the other mark and empty. Dragging paints the chosen mark across grass. Tap a lantern to read its current visible-rabbit count.
- Undo reverses the last mark or stroke. Restart clears the grove and keeps the deal clock running. The grove finishes when all rows, columns and lanterns agree; there is no loss.

All 180 groves are fixed, have one independently enumerated answer, and are distinct under rotation and reflection. A lantern below 2 requires tree blocking. The private answers and solver do not ship. Public times require an uninterrupted first solve; local progress and reduced motion use morass.rabbits-and-trees.v1, sound uses the shared site setting. About Rabbits and Trees
In the moonwood, numbered lanterns overlook a grove of ivory rabbits and ancient trees. Each row and column needs exactly one of each. A tree hides a rabbit only if it stands between the rabbit and a lantern.
Explore 180 original groves, sixty each on 5×5, 6×6 and 7×7 grids. Every grove has exactly one independently enumerated arrangement under the public rules.
The clock starts when a grove opens. Your first solve is saved locally; an uninterrupted first session can set the verified public best time, shown with its holder beside the clock and on each atlas card.
