About Banishing Words
Night after night the hearth-keeper's fire holds back the wraiths of the dark. Each one drifts toward the hearth with a word glowing on it; type the word and it unravels into motes. Its first letter picks it, and no two words on screen share one.
Ten realms bring a new kind of wraith each: quick wisps, twins that split, shrouds with two words, wailers that hurry the rest, changelings that change their word. Every twelfth night a guardian speaks a whole incantation. Words grow from two letters to twelve, and every night keeps a top ten for score and for speed.
How to play
- Goal
- Type the word on each wraith to banish it before it reaches the hearth, and see every wave of the night through.
- How it ends
- The night is won when its last wraith is banished; it is lost when the third hearth ember goes out.
- Record
- For every night, the ten best scores and the ten fastest times of nights won, each checked by replaying the run.
- Type on your keyboard. The first letter locks the wraith whose word starts with it (the one nearest the hearth); then type the rest of its word to banish it. On a touch screen use the keys under the night. Backspace lets go of a word if a nearer wraith needs you.
- A wrong key breaks your combo, and a locked wraith lurches forward, so mashing only brings them closer. A wraith that reaches the hearth puts out one of its three embers; the third one out ends the night.
- Banish a golden spark to store a Flare: Enter (or the Flare button) banishes every wraith on screen at once. Clean typing raises your combo up to times four. An empty field calls the next wraith at once, so a quick typist never waits.

Good to know
Ranked results are checked by playing your run again. Gentle pace in Settings slows every wraith for young typists; gentle nights are practice. Your progress stays in this browser.
