About Hitori
The classic Nikoli puzzle Hitori becomes a night on the Mirelight Mere: an old wardens' causeway of carved stepping-stones crosses black water under a full moon, and you are the wayfinder raising it before the moon sets.
Two stones carved with the same number in one row or column echo. Sink stones until no number stands twice, never two sunk stones side by side, and keep every standing stone joined in one unbroken causeway.
All 120 crossings are open from the first visit, across six reaches from 6×6 shallows to 11×11 deep water. Every one is deterministic, solvable by named reasoning with no guess anywhere, and independently counted to exactly one answer before it ships.
Each crossing keeps a named fastest time and a public top ten. The chart and the live clock both print the record and who holds it.
How to play
- Tap a stone to cycle standing, sunk, warded — a ward is your own mark for a stone that must stand; drag to ward a run of stones.
- Sink stones until no number stands twice in any row or column. Two sunk stones may never touch side by side.
- Every standing stone must join one causeway, reachable from every other by steps up, down, left or right.

All 120 crossings are open, deterministic, proved to need no guess and independently counted to one answer. There is no hint and no mistake check: the built page ships no solver. Named fastest times, completion, kept attempts, sound and reduced-motion preference persist in this browser.
