About Nurikabe
Leave numbered islands in a connected dark sea. Each island must have its stated area, islands cannot touch by an edge, and the sea cannot contain a solid 2×2 block.
How to play
- Goal
- Mark every cell as flood or island so each numbered island has exactly that many cells.
- How it ends
- A chart is solved when the islands are right, the flood is one connected piece with no 2×2 pool. There is no way to lose.
- Record
- The fastest first solve of each chart, with its holder's name.
- Mark every undecided cell as either flood or island.
- A numbered island has exactly that many cells and exactly one beacon. Separate every island from every other island.
- Keep all flood cells connected and never make a solid 2×2 flood pool.

A clue of 1 is already a complete island. Nikoli recommends it as a starting point: every square directly beside it must be sea.
