How to play

Goal
Shade one connected island in every realm, keeping islands apart across borders and giving neighbouring realms different island sizes.
How it ends
The chart lights when every realm has an island and all border, size and clue rules hold; there is no loss.
Record
Your first solve time is kept for each chart, and the fastest verified first solve appears with its holder.
Worked visual example for Shimaguni
Worked example. See the rule happen, then follow the numbered rules below.
  1. Each thick bronze border outlines one realm. Shade at least one square in each realm; its shaded squares must join through shared edges. Islands in different realms cannot touch across a border, though diagonal corners may meet. A number gives that realm’s exact island size. Two realms sharing a border must have different island sizes. Pale sea squares do not need to connect. In real Chart 001, a shaded square at row 3 column 3 lies immediately left of a different realm. The worked picture marks the square across that border pale; the rest of the chart stays open.
  2. Tap a square to cycle island, pale note, blank. You may drag through several squares as one move, choose Shade or Pale for the selected square, or right click for a pale note. Pale notes help deduction but are not required for completion. Red edging shows a definite border, size, or connection problem.
  3. Give every realm one connected island, satisfy any number, keep islands apart across borders and make neighbouring island sizes unequal. Undo and Redo correct slips; Restart clears marks while the first clock continues. A first clear can rank once, and later clears are untimed practice.

Tips for Shimaguni

  • Read the bronze seam An island square makes every directly touching square across a realm border pale.
  • Compare island sizes If a neighbour is already a three-square island, this realm must finish with another size.
  • Grow one shore Squares inside a realm may touch along edges; two separate dark groups must still be joined.

All 160 fixed charts have distinct region layouts, one exact answer and an independently checked no-guess deduction trace. Private witnesses never ship. Progress uses morass.shimaguni.v1. Only the first clear can rank; replays are practice. Sound follows the shared arcade settings. No ads or analytics run inside the game.

About Shimaguni

An enchanted archipelago is divided into bronze-edged realms. Restore one green island inside each realm without letting two islands meet across a border.

All 160 charts are open from the start. Their unique answers and no-guess deduction paths were checked independently; the four reaches range from compact five-by-five charts to seven-by-seven wards.

Your first solve time stays with each chart. An uninterrupted first clear on the game page can claim the named best; later replays are practice.
