How to play
- Goal
- Fill every square with a star's colour so each star owns one connected region that is unchanged by a half-turn around it.
- How it ends
- A chart is won when all squares belong to exactly one star, every region is connected, and each region has 180-degree symmetry around its own star; there is no loss.
- Record
- Your first finish time is saved for each chart, and an uninterrupted first solve can set its named public best time.
- Choose a numbered star chip, then tap a square. That square and its opposite across the star light together. Tap the same pair again to clear it, or choose another star to move it.
- A star can be in a square, on the line between two squares, or at a four-square corner. Every square touching it is assigned from the start. The worked picture shows real Chart 001 before and after Star 1 claims a pair.
- Fill every square so each star owns exactly one connected, half-turn symmetric region. Numbers and patterns identify regions alongside colour. A chart completes when the visible rules hold, without checking against a hidden answer. Undo and Restart are available; Restart keeps the first clock. Replays are untimed practice.

| Arrow keys | Move focus around the chart |
| Space / Enter | Assign or clear the focused square |
| 1–9 | Choose a numbered star |
| Undo / Z | Restore the previous assignment |

All 160 fixed charts pass independent exact enumeration, named no-guess deductions and symmetry ablation. Saves use morass.galaxies.v1; sound follows the shared site setting. No ads or analytics run inside the game.
About Galaxies
At a brass and ink observatory, assign every square to one of its numbered stars. A region can bend, but it must stay connected and look unchanged after a half-turn around its own star.
Every tap lights a symmetric pair. The 160 original charts each have one independently proved answer and a deduction route without guessing.
Your first finish time stays in this browser. An uninterrupted first solve can claim a named public best for that chart.
