How to play

Goal
Fill every run between gilded walls with the numbers 1 through its length, each once.
How it ends
The chart lights when all cells are filled and every horizontal and vertical run obeys that rule; there is no loss.
Record
Your first solve time is kept for each chart, and the fastest verified first solve appears with its holder.
Worked visual example for One Up
Worked example. See the rule happen, then follow the numbered rules below.
  1. A thick wall or the board edge ends a run. Each horizontal and vertical run of N squares holds the numbers 1 through N exactly once, in any order. A one-square run must be 1. The same number may appear twice in a full row or column when a wall separates the runs.
  2. The worked picture uses the opening state of Chart 002. Its top three squares need 1, 2 and 3; only the middle square crosses a vertical run long enough to hold 3. Place 3 there. All the other blank squares remain for you to solve.
  3. Select a square, then tap a digit on the rail or Erase. Arrow keys move focus, 1–6 enter a digit and Backspace clears. Red squares show a rule break; a complete valid run glows. Undo and Redo fix slips. Restart clears entries while the first-solve clock keeps running. Fill every run correctly to light the chart; there is no loss. Replays are untimed practice.

Each of the 160 charts has one independently verified answer. A separate trace solves every chart using only candidate and missing-digit singles, with 158 distinct wall layouts. Private witnesses never ship. Saves use morass.one-up.v1; the browser shares only the sound preference with other games. No ads or analytics run inside the game.

About One Up

A night cartographer has drawn 160 numbered star charts. Brass walls divide every row and column into shorter runs, each with its own sequence to restore.

The first constellations teach the crossings; the grand sky maps fit six-by-six grids. Every chart has one independently checked answer and a deduction route made only of simple singles.

Your first solve time stays in this browser. An uninterrupted first finish can claim the named public best shown beside the clock and on every chart card.
