About Stars and Arrows
Place stars on parchment charts, combining the totals around the grid with eight-direction arrow clues. A star visible to two arrows is a contradiction, even if both arrows see exactly one star.
Choose from 240 original puzzles, with 80 each at 4×4, 5×5 and 6×6. Every chart has one complete star pattern.
How to play
- Goal
- Place stars in empty squares so every arrow points to exactly one star and every star belongs to exactly one arrow.
- How it ends
- A chart is solved when all arrows have one star, all stars have one arrow, and the row and column totals match.
- Record
- Your fastest first solve is kept for each chart; later solves are practice.
- Place stars only in empty squares. Every printed arrow must point to exactly one star along its straight ray to the edge.
- Every star must be seen by exactly one arrow. If two arrows see the same square, that square cannot contain a star.
- Match the star totals printed beside every row and column. Stars may touch, including along edges.
- Rays pass over other printed arrows. They do not stop at the first arrow or star.
- Use Cross for optional empty-square notes. Tap an arrow to trace its ray. Visible contradictions are named without revealing the answer.
Controls
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| Tap an empty square | Apply Star, Cross or Erase; tap the same mark to clear it |
| Tap a printed arrow | Trace its ray |
| Arrow keys; Enter / Space | Move focus; apply the selected tool or inspect an arrow |
| 1 / 2; Delete / Backspace | Place Star / Cross; erase focused square |
| Z / Y; Escape | Undo / Redo; close a panel or return to the atlas |
Tips
- Cross shared squares Trace two arrows. A square in both rays cannot hold a star.
- Finish a line Once a row or column has its full star total, cross the remaining empty squares.
Good to know
Progress and Undo history save in this browser. The first clock starts when a chart opens and continues through menus and Restart. Reloaded attempts continue locally; later solves are practice. The shelves describe grid size, not measured difficulty.

Questions
Must stars stay apart?
No. Stars may touch; only arrow ownership and the printed totals restrict them.
Do arrows block other arrows?
No. Each ray continues to the edge, passing over printed arrows.
