How to play

Goal
Join matching numbered cells with separate chains containing exactly their number of cells, counting both endpoints.
How it ends
Every printed clue belongs to one exact-length chain; a 1 stands alone and unused cells stay empty.
Record
Your first uninterrupted unaided completion time is kept for each chart; completed charts reopen as untimed practice.
Worked visual example for Ketten
Worked example. See the rule happen, then follow the numbered rules below.
  1. Select a numbered endpoint, then tap adjacent cells or drag along an orthogonal chain. Both numbered endpoints count toward its length. Chains may turn.
  2. Connect two equal numbers with exactly that many cells. A printed one stands alone; select it twice to confirm its one-cell chain.
  3. Every clue belongs to one chain. Chains cannot share or repeat a cell, cross, or pass through another clue. Unused blank cells are allowed.
  4. A complete chain saves as one Undo step. Retrace a pending preview to shorten it or use Escape to cancel. Invalid previews do not change saved entries.

Tips for Ketten

  • Count both ends A three-cell chain contains two numbered endpoints and one blank, so it makes only two cell-to-cell moves.
  • Confirm each one A printed one makes its own one-cell chain; select it twice.
  • Keep chains separate Turns are allowed, but completed chains reserve every cell they use.

Questions about this game

Must I fill every cell?

No. Complete every clue’s chain; unused blank cells are allowed.

Can chains turn?

Yes. Each move is horizontal or vertical; diagonal moves are not allowed.

What does a one mean?

It is a complete chain occupying just its own cell. Select it twice to confirm.

Are shelves difficulty levels?

They describe four sizes, from 5×5 to 8×8, with 24 charts each. No human difficulty ranking is promised.

Does Restart reset the clock?

It clears entries while retaining the original first-solve clock. Undo restores the cleared position.

What happens on replay or reload?

Completed charts open in untimed Practice. Reloaded unfinished charts retain complete chains and Undo; their time stays local.

Charts and the worked example are original. Complete chains and Undo save in this browser; unfinished previews do not. The first clock starts when a chart is selected. Reloaded attempts and detected clock or suspension discontinuities stay local. Unsafe storage is reported in-game. This is an independent implementation of Ketten puzzle rules.
