About Nine Men's Morris
The classic 24-point Nine Men's Morris board, set into a smoke-dark ward-table. Ember and Frost stones carry different carved marks, so play never depends on colour alone.
Place nine stones, close a line of three to remove a rival stone, then slide along the board. Once only three stones remain, they may fly to any open point.
Choose Kindler, Wayfinder, Gate Warden or Oathkeeper, or pass the same screen to a nearby friend. Each keeper card remembers your fewest-turn and fastest win.
Every one of the 120 open Mill Trials is a legally reached position with exactly one move that closes a mill. Trial cards show the named public record for fastest first solve.
How to play
- Take turns placing all nine stones on the 24 glowing crossings. A horizontal or vertical board line of three is a mill and removes one legal rival stone.
- After placement, move one stone along a drawn line to an adjacent empty crossing. With exactly three stones, fly to any empty crossing.
- Win by reducing the rival below three stones or leaving them unable to move. Three repetitions or fifty quiet movement turns make a draw.
