About Golf Solitaire

Clear seven face-up columns by playing one rank above or below the waste. Choosing which card to uncover can keep a run going; the sixteen stock cards give you one pass to find a way through.

Choose from 7,475 fixed deals. Clear the tableau, then try to save more stock for a lower Golf score. Each deal keeps its first-clear time and best score separately.

How to play

Goal
Clear all 35 tableau cards by playing exposed cards one rank above or below the waste.
How it ends
You win when the tableau is empty, and a hand is blocked when no legal play or stock card remains.
Record
Each deal keeps your lowest Golf score and fastest first-clear time.
  1. Choose a deal. Opening it reveals the cards and starts its first-clear clock.
  2. Play the exposed bottom card of any column when it is one rank above or below the waste. Suits do not matter, and you may change direction.
  3. Ace pairs only with Two; King pairs only with Queen. Ace and King never wrap.
  4. Draw a new waste card from the sixteen-card stock whenever you choose. There is one pass and no redeal. A stock draw cannot be undone.
  5. Clear all 35 tableau cards to win. On a clear, Golf score is minus the unused stock cards: lower is better. A blocked hand reports cards left. Only full clears enter records.
  6. Undo reverses tableau plays since the last stock draw. Restart returns the same deal while its clock keeps running. Practice can improve Golf score without replacing the first-clear time.

Tips

  • Look behind the choice Two cards may fit the waste but uncover different ranks. Compare the cards below them before choosing a direction.
  • Spend stock with a plan A draw cannot be undone. You may draw while a card fits, so compare the next few ranks rather than treating every legal play as compulsory.

Good to know

The clock keeps running through menus and Restart. Reload preserves the hand and Undo, but the resumed first time stays local. Practice can improve Golf score. Music, Effects and Reduced motion have separate settings. Progress needs browser storage.

Questions

Can I play an Ace on a King?

No. This ruleset has no wrapping: Ace pairs with Two, and King pairs with Queen.

Why is a winning score negative?

A clear scores minus the stock cards you saved. Saving five gives −5; spending every stock card gives 0. Lower is better.

Is empty stock an automatic loss?

No. Keep playing if a tableau card fits the waste. The hand is blocked only when no card fits and no stock remains.

Can I improve a record in Practice?

Practice can improve Golf score. It keeps the original first-clear time unchanged.
