How to play
- Goal
- Shade the chart until every arrow counts the dark cells beyond its own square, the total dark count matches, and no 2×2 patch is wholly dark.
- How it ends
- A chart opens when the dark pattern meets every rule; pale notes are optional and there is no loss state.
- Record
- The time of the first unaided solve of each fixed chart is kept locally and may rank publicly.
- Ink squares until each arrow number counts exactly that many dark squares in its direction, starting just after the arrow square. A clue square may itself be inked and still counts for arrows that cross it. Match the dark total beside the chart and never fill an entire 2×2 patch with ink.
- The worked picture shows a dark clue square with a right-pointing 2. One dark square already sits immediately to its right; ink the far-right square so the arrow sees two dark squares beyond itself and the whole small chart has three.
- Tap any square to cycle dark ink, pale note and clear. Pale notes are optional; only the correct dark pattern must be inked. Undo restores a mark, and Restart clears marks without resetting the clock. Returning through the atlas keeps an unfinished first-solve clock, while reloading makes that finish local only. Public records accept times up to 24 hours.

All 160 fixed charts have one independently verified answer, and a separate bounded candidate deduction trace finishes each. Removing any one of the total, arrow or 2×2 rules makes every chart ambiguous. Private witnesses stay outside the build. Saves use morass.hikuchapeinto.v1; sound follows the shared arcade setting. No ads or analytics run inside the game.

About Hikuchapeinto
At an Orenvalt observatory, paint silver-dark squares on a vellum star chart. Brass arrow seals count ink from the next square all the way to the edge, even across other seals.
Each of the 160 original charts has exactly one independently proved dark pattern. A separate bounded deduction trace finishes every chart without recursive search.
Your first finish time stays in this browser. An uninterrupted first solve can claim the named public best for its chart.
