How to play
- Goal
- Shade the tablet into dark rectangular patches and pale nonrectangular patches, with each number equal to its patch's size.
- How it ends
- The chart is won when every cell is decided and all patch rules hold; there is no loss.
- Record
- The fastest first solve of each chart is kept, and replaying it is practice.
- Shade every cell dark or pale. Each edge-connected dark patch must be a rectangle, including squares. Each edge-connected pale patch must not be a rectangle. A number counts every cell in its own patch, whether dark or pale; patches need no number, and several numbers may share a patch.
- The worked picture comes from real Chart 001. Its corner 1 must be dark: a one-cell pale patch would be a rectangle. Its two edge neighbors must then be pale because a dark patch of 1 cannot grow.
- Tap a cell to cycle undecided, dark, pale, then undecided. Every cell needs an explicit mark. Undo, Redo and Restart correct moves; Restart keeps the first clock running. A chart finishes when all patch rules hold. There is no loss, and replaying cannot improve the first time.
Controls
| Tap / click a cell | Cycle undecided → dark → pale → undecided |
|---|---|
| Right click / P | Mark the selected cell pale |
| D | Mark the selected cell dark |
| Arrow keys | Move the cell focus |
| Enter / Space | Cycle the focused cell |
| Backspace / Erase | Clear the selected cell |
| Z / Shift+Z / Undo / Redo | Reverse or restore a mark |
| Restart / R | Clear this chart while preserving its first clock |
| Escape | Close a panel or return to the atlas |
| Gamepad | Move focus, cycle or mark either colour, undo, redo and reach every panel |
All 160 original charts have one independently verified answer, both shape rules matter, and each has a bounded deduction trace. Every cell needs a mark. Private witnesses do not ship. Saves use morass.choco-banana.v1; sound follows the shared site setting. No ads or analytics run inside the game.

About Choco Banana
At the Moonleaf Apothecary, dark cocoa seals keep precise rectangular shapes while pale leaf patches spread in shapes that are never rectangles. Each number counts the cells in its own patch, dark or pale.
Solve 160 original compact charts. Independent exhaustive checks prove one answer for each chart; a bounded deduction trace also solves every one without an answer key in the browser.
Your first solve time stays in this browser. An uninterrupted first finish can claim the named best shown beside the clock and on the chart cards.
