How to play
- Goal
- Shade cells until every number gives the area of its largest clear rectangle, no shaded cells touch by an edge, and all clear cells connect.
- How it ends
- A chart is won as soon as the final shading obeys all three rules; there is no loss, and a wrong mark can be removed.
- Record
- The first unaided solve time for each chart is kept locally and entered for a named public record.
- Tap a clear unnumbered square to press a dark seal; tap it again to lift the seal. A number is the area of its largest all-clear, straight-sided rectangle, including the numbered square. Rectangles can overlap. Tap a number to light its current largest rectangle. In the worked example, sealing one corner cuts the centre number's largest rectangle from nine squares to six.
- Dark seals may meet diagonally but cannot share an edge. All clear squares must remain joined by edge steps. Unmarked squares are clear, so no X marks are needed. Every number and both land rules must agree to finish.
- Undo lifts the last seal. Restart clears all seals without resetting the first-opening clock. A chart completes automatically and has no loss state. Replays are untimed practice. Returning to the atlas in the same page keeps the first clock and record chance; reloading an unfinished chart keeps its marks but makes its first finish local only.

About Territory
At a moonlit cartographer's table, press dark wax seals onto a chart to shape one connected stretch of pale land. Each number measures the largest clear rectangle that contains it.
All 160 charts have one independently verified answer and an elementary deduction path. Four open folios let you choose any chart immediately.
Your first finish time stays in this browser. An uninterrupted first solve can claim the named public best shown on each chart card.
