How to play

Goal
Shade whole rooms so each number counts its dark edge-sharing neighbours, every dark cell connects, and no 2×2 square is all dark or all pale.
How it ends
A chart is solved as soon as the shaded rooms satisfy every rule; there is no loss state.
Record
The fastest first solve of each chart is kept as a public record, with its holder's name.
Worked visual example for Peintoeria
Worked example. See the rule happen, then follow the numbered rules below.
  1. Tap any tile to ink or clear its entire brass-outlined room. A numbered tile counts dark neighbours above, below, left and right; the numbered tile may itself be dark and does not count itself. The worked example inks a two-tile room: the centre seal turns dark, reaches two dark neighbours, and joins the existing ink.
  2. All dark tiles must connect by edges. No 2×2 square may be all dark or all pale. The numbered seals turn green when exact and red if too high; a red dark square shows a violated 2×2 rule. Unmarked rooms are pale, so no X marks are needed.
  3. Undo restores the previous room colour. Restart clears marks while the first-opening clock keeps running. A chart completes automatically when every rule agrees; there is no loss state. Replays are untimed practice.

Every chart has a stable ID and one independently verified answer. Removing the clue, dark connectivity or 2×2 rule makes every chart ambiguous. Private witnesses and the exact counter do not ship. Saves use morass.peintoeria.v1; sound follows the shared site setting. No ads or analytics run inside the game.

About Peintoeria

In a candlelit Orenvalt scriptorium, pale ward maps wait for a current of living violet ink. Brass borders divide each chart into rooms that turn dark as one.

Explore 160 original charts across four open shelves. Every chart has exactly one independently proved shading; clues, the connected dark network and the no-solid-square rule each matter.

Your first solve time stays in this browser. An uninterrupted first solve can claim the verified public best shown beside the clock and on each chart card.
