About Weaver's Lattice
A lattice of crossing words has come off the loom tangled: every letter is there, most in the wrong place. Swap two tiles at a time until every word across and down reads true, the tiles turning gilt as they settle.
Ten looms hold 24 lattices each, from six five-letter words on Spindle Row to seven seven-letter words on the Loom of Stars. Every lattice has one answer and a par, the fewest swaps that weave it, with a few spare swaps that shrink loom by loom.
How to play
- Goal
- Swap tiles until every word in the lattice is right and every tile is gold.
- How it ends
- The lattice is woven the moment its last tile turns gold; it frays if the swaps run out first, and you may try it again from the start.
- Record
- For every lattice, the fewest swaps and the fastest first weave.
- Tap or click a tile, then another, to swap them; or drag one tile onto another. Gilt tiles, marked with a notch, are in place and stay put. An azure tile, marked with a ring, belongs to a word through it but sits in the wrong spot; a plain tile is not wanted by either of its words.
- Azure lights only as many tiles as a word is missing: if a word needs one more E and holds two spare Es, only the first glows. A tile where two words cross glows if either word wants it.
- The lattice is woven when every tile is gilt. Weave it within the swaps shown and you win; run out first and the lattice frays, and you may try again. Three stars for a weave in par, two within two of it.
- Weave eight lattices on a loom to open the next.
Controls
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| Tap or click two tiles; drag one onto another | Swap them |
| Arrow keys; Enter or Space | Move the cursor over the tiles; pick up or swap |
| Escape | Let go of a tile, close a panel, or return to the looms |
| Gamepad: d-pad, A, B | Move, pick up or swap, let go or go back |
Tips
- Fix two at once The best swap puts both tiles in place; look for a pair that each belongs where the other stands.
- Read the crossings A tile where words cross must suit both; settle the corners first and the rest narrows quickly.
Good to know
Your first weave of each lattice is timed from the moment you first open it, through menus and Start again; later weaves are practice. Progress stays in this browser. Music, effects and reduced motion have separate settings.
