About Oracle's Tally

A word duel against a seer. You each hide a five-letter word, and every guess is answered with one number: how many of its letters are in the hidden word, in any place. Mark letters in and out as the tallies add up, and name the oracle's word before it names yours. Seven oracles, from a wandering hedge-seer to the Oracle of the Stair, each hold thirty duels.

How to play

Goal
Name the oracle's hidden word before it names yours.
How it ends
You win the moment you guess its word. If the oracle guesses your word first, the duel is lost; you may keep guessing for practice or reveal its word.
Record
The fastest first win of each duel, and its fewest guesses.
  1. Hide your word first: type a common word of five different letters, or Draw one.
  2. Guess a real word of five different letters. The tally says how many of its letters are in the oracle's word; order never counts.
  3. Tap a letter in a guess, or use Notes on the keyboard, to mark it in or out. A tally of 0 strikes all five.
  4. After each guess the oracle guesses your word and you see its tally. Name its word before it names yours.
