Eyes on the Exit

Battle-wizard achievement route, verified by replay: Defeat both basilisks in The stone stare without facing either down its line, using Heat seeker for their final hits.

For Battle-wizard in The stone stare (The Glasswing steppe, room 122). This guide earns Eyes on the Exit. The Steam and mobile builds track achievements; the web build does not.

Not filmed yet. This route was checked by replaying it through the game’s own achievement judge, which awarded the achievement, but no video of it exists. The turn list below is read from that replay.

The rule

In The stone stare (room 122) both original basilisks die to Heat seeker; no basilisk stuns the hero; when a basilisk acts on an odd clock, the hero never faces it along an unblocked line.

Before you begin

The verified run used the Battle-wizard kit after 121 draft picks, one for each earlier room, in the order below. Every pick is one the game offered at that point. A different draft gives a different kit, and the script may then need changes.

Turn by turn

  1. Turn 1: Cast Heat seeker. Heat seeker hits the Basilisk for 38.
  2. Turn 2: Cast Flame step.
  3. Turn 3: Cast Firebolt. Firebolt hits the Grey wolf for 48 and it dies.
  4. Turn 4: Cast Flame step.
  5. Turn 5: Cast Heat seeker. Heat seeker hits the Basilisk for 28 and it dies.
  6. Turn 6: Cast Flame step.
  7. Turn 7: Cast Furnace fan. Furnace fan hits the Basilisk for 14; Burning hits the Basilisk for 2.
  8. Turn 8: Cast Heat seeker. Heat seeker hits the Basilisk for 50 and it dies.

What to watch

  • Heat seeker flies to the nearest creature within 5 steps whichever way you face (the game's own spell text). That is why the three Heat seeker casts in the verified run are made while facing left, down and up: the bolt does not need the hero to look at the basilisk.
  • Both basilisks must die to Heat seeker. The verified run spends Firebolt on the wolf (turn 3) and Furnace fan only to wear the second basilisk down (turn 7); Heat seeker lands the killing hits on turns 5 and 8.
  • Flame step is cast on turns 2, 4 and 6 to change tiles between attacks. The verified run ends with all 30 HP: no basilisk stunned the hero.

If it does not unlock

The achievement is checked on a replay of a won run. Win the room with a script that follows the rule above; a run that does not meet every clause wins the room and earns nothing.
