Traits

The ten traits, pick up to three, and what each one really changes.

Pick up to three on the New Game screen; they last the whole life. The line under each name is the game's own; the expanded entry gives the exact effect.

Silver-tonguedBribes cost less and land more often.
Pick up to 3 at New Game

A bribe costs 15% less, and its chance to land rises by 10 points.

DiscreetRisky deeds are far less likely to be exposed.
Pick up to 3 at New Game

Halves the chance that a bribe is exposed. It does nothing for smuggling runs or arrests.

Well-connectedStart with a little goodwill in the quarter.
Pick up to 3 at New Game

Adds 10 to your commoner standing on day one. It is a one-time head start, not a lasting bonus.

ThriftyYour premises cost less to buy.
Pick up to 3 at New Game

Takes 10% off the price of a new shop, a gift, patronizing a faction and hosting a feast.

Quick studyYour reputation builds faster.
Pick up to 3 at New Game

Your standing moves toward its target about 40% faster each day, in both directions.

HardyA hardier constitution — a longer life to build.
Pick up to 3 at New Game

Adds six years to your life. In version 0.1.1 every life ends at 62, so a Hardy life ends at 68.

Tough crewYour staff stay loyal — rivals struggle to poach them.
Pick up to 3 at New Game

Adds 25 points to your crew's loyalty, so rivals poach your hands far less often.

OutlawThe Hush Trade courts you — offers come oftener and pay more.
Pick up to 3 at New Game

Hush Trade offers come more often, a run pays 450 Bits instead of 300, and the chance of a bust halves (1 in 20 instead of 1 in 10).

Self-reliantSource your own inputs — immune to a hostile supplier, but no ally supply bonus.
Pick up to 3 at New Game

Your shops ignore the named suppliers entirely: no +20% from an allied supplier, and no drag from a hostile one.

Hard CoinA hard-nosed lender: your loan book earns more interest, but defaults strike more often.
Pick up to 3 at New Game

Your loan book earns half again as much interest, but defaults strike about half again as often.
